Diving into my career identity: skills & expertise
My skills and expertise are quite limited, considering that I'm really young in the world of business, but I still have picked up quite a few skills from my part-time job and other experiences.
My core strengths
My number one strength is my compassion. Compassion is something that I truly rely on, because in the business world you have to make ruthless decisions. Thankfully, I want to help everyone feel better, no matter the situation. My compassion will override my integrity at times because I'll try so much to help someone, even at the expense of my own morals. I also rely on my integrity because I believe in the right thing. I won't always make the right decisions, but I will always try to do the right thing even if it may cost me my career.
Newly acquired skills
At my part-time job, I've managed to pick up adaptability. As a store team member, I work in different roles so being able to adapt to each role is a huge skill/difference maker. I have also improved my interpersonal skills because my job forces me to be on good terms with my co-workers in a good way. I don't have to be best friends with them, but I do need to form a solid partnership base with them. My interpersonal skills intertwine with teamwork because working in a team is what makes our jobs easier and more efficient. I did use to be a fairly decent team-player, but after working at my job, I can confidently say that I am a better teammate now.
Igniting my passion
I love tasks that require me to think creatively and be an innovator. The opportunity to think outside the box and come up with unique solutions is what truly gets me going. When the environment is one where innovation is the only way to true success, I will go above and beyond 100% of the time. Being able to bend the rules to bring a new concept to life is what makes me enjoy challenging tasks. It makes me want to become a pioneer of so many things.
